Founded in 2023, Ellerslie Books is a boutique publishing house located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, approximately 90 minutes from Washington, DC. Founder and proprietor H.S. Leigh Koonce has been in the book and writing business for over 15 years, including stints as a bookseller, freelance journalist, private writing tutor, librarian, and book festival organizer. He founded Ellerslie Books to enable writers to have a local publishing option with a familiar face and to introduce contemporary readers to the wide ranging talent that was the West Virginia literary world in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

The name Ellerslie is taken from the house and farm established near Harpers Ferry by his great-great grandfather, Senator George Koonce in the 19th century.
